united states nevada tonopah tonopah historic mining park

The Tonopah Historic Mining Park was once a silver mine and is now a "ghost town" museum which we had entirely to ourselves on a clear brisk morning in October of 2005.
One of the great charms of the museum is that it is not over-developed... there are just enough signs and reconstructions
to relay necessary information... their is a distinct feeling that the miners just got up and left one day...
leaving their equipment where it lay.
The engineer in me has a real love for old machinery, wonderfully simple and practical constructs of wood and steel...
The clean air and blue skies of Nevada make every abandoned piece of equipment a work of art.
